Textiles GCSE Course Years 10 and 11
Students follow the AQA Textiles Technology specification.
Unit 1 – Written paper – 40% of total marks.
Unit 2 – Controlled Assessment – 60% of total marks.
Year 10 from September to June two practice projects are completed – designing and making a product for a child’s nursery and designing and making a decorated fashionable skirt.
Through the projects all the decorative and making techniques and the more theoretical aspects of the specification are taught.
In June of year 10 the controlled assessment is started which has to be completed before Easter of year 11.
From Easter until students leave in July lessons are devoted to revision for the examination paper.
