Year 7

Year 7s are working towards ’The Great Chesterton Celebration’ in the Summer term.  This is a celebration of their DT work over the year in a Summer fete style event.  We work alongside Music who put on ‘Proms in the Park’ at the same time.  Last years event was a huge success and we look forward to this years achievements.

They will explore four areas of DT during the course of the year – Food Technology, Graphics, Resistant Materials/Product Design and Textiles.  All the projects link directly to The Great Chesterton Celebration.

Food Technology
Students are introduced to Food Technology, e.g. use of cooker, development of dish. They will use different techniques to produce a number of dishes.

Graphics
Students learn about fonts, paper mechanisms and nets so that they can produce door signs, cards and party boxes.

Resistant Materials
Students develop an understanding of electronics and vacuum forming so that they can produce a Jitterbug toy.

Textiles
Students produce a tie-dyed decorated 2D toy.
