Christmas in the Bible

A study of Christmas according to the Bible (using Bible reading skills), a look at Christmas traditions from around the world and the meaning of Christmas for Christians.

Expectations

By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will: be able to retell the Christmas story referring to the gospel versions.

Most students will: be able to see that there are differences between the birth narratives in the two gospels studied. Most will learn that Christmas is celebrated in different ways around the world.

Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to: suggest possible reasons for the differences in narratives and traditions across the Christian world.  They will quickly identify the themes of the festival from the birth narrative.
