‘Tell Me The Truth About Love’ was Chesterton’s first dramatic performance this year. It played to a full-house on Thursday 22nd October and the 65 GCSE performers were ‘on fire’! This is what Roger Mann, one of Chesterton’s Governing Body, said about it:
“That was absolutely fantastic – the speaking, the singing, the movement, the music, the sheer choreography of so many actors moving around the space like clockwork…Such ambitious and mature material, to which the students responded brilliantly with performances that were disciplined, committed and showed an emotional understanding I never expected. Many, many congratulations to both casts…this has exceeded my wildest hopes and expectations.”
In February 2016 as the year 11 GCSE Drama students enter their final term of Drama at Chesterton and prepare for the culmination of their hard work, a performance to a visiting examiner, we will embark on a weekend drama retreat.
The retreat has taken place at Burwell House for the past few years and allowed students to write, devise and rehearse their final performance in preparation for the examiner’s visit later in the term for a weekend without interruption or distraction. It has also allowed students to receive intensive direction and master classes from our Drama staff, not to mention some impromptu dramatics with a some fun and games thrown in for good measure. We are greatly looking forward to this year’s intensive weekend!
