Introduction to play scripts

An opportunity to experiment with the techniques covered during Year 7 using the play script ‘Ernie’s Incredible Illusinations’ as a stimulus.

Expectations

By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to: define stage directions; use voice to create the characters of the ratz; use their bodies to create objects.

Most students will be able to: apply stage directions to a scene; use voice and movement to create a character; select and use appropriate techniques in performance; communicate a character through still image.

Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to: apply stage directions to a scene which is original and creative; apply knowledge of voice and movement to a scripted scene; select and use a wide variety of techniques to create an interesting scene; use at least two features of a film trailer in their performance.

Key Assessments

This scheme of work is the last in Year 7 and the selection and understanding of techniques will be assessed to provide an end of year level for each student.

How to help your child

Parents could ensure that their child is recapping on the techniques used in Year 7 so that they are able to select the appropriate technique for the activities.
