All year 10 students study two separate GCSEs in English:
Each course is examined separately and students can achieve different grades in each. Each course will be examined at the end of year 11. There are no controlled assessments or coursework. There are two exams for each course which will be sat in the summer of year 11.
Throughout the two years of study students will sit regular mock exams in order that students, staff and parents can monitor progress and identify next steps for improvement.
In the summer of 2017 students will be awarded a grade on the new grade scale 9-1 where a grade 9 is the highest.
