Unit 1 – Talking about what you do in your free time

By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to say what they do in their free time.
Most students will be able to say what they have done recently.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to say what they will do next week.

Key vocabulary: Ich faulenze = I laze about;ich ruhe mich selten aus = I rarely relax; ich spiele/übe ein Instrument = I play/practise an instrument; ich chatte mit Freunden online = I chat with friends online; Ich benutze Facebook = I use face book; Ich lade Musik herunter = I download music; ich gehe auf Partys = I go to partys. Ich mache Balett = I go to ballet; das mache täglich/regelmäßig = I do this daily/regularly; ich bin zu Hause geblieben = I stayed at home; Ich hab kegeln nie probiert = I never tried bowling; ich bin geritten = I went horse riding; das hat mir gut gefallen/mir Spaß gemacht = I liked it; it was fun; wenn ich älter bin, werde ich Wasserskilaufen sicher mal probieren = when I am older, I certainly will try water skiing.

Unit 2 – Talking about money

By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to if and how much pocket money they get and what they spend it on.
Most students will be able to say what they used to get/do to earn pocket money
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to they will/ought to do with their money in the future.

Key vocabulary: Ich bekomme…Taschengeld im Monat/in der Woche = I get …pocket money a month/a week; Ich habe einen Teilzeitjob und verdiene…. I have a part time job and I earn….Ich gebe mein Geld für Klamotten/Zeitschriften/Schminke/Modeschmuck/ Computerspiele aus = I spend my money on clothes/magazines/make-up/jewelery; Leider habe ich Schulden gemacht = unfortunately I have got into debt; In Zukunft werde/sollte ich mehr/mein Geld sparen = In future I will/should save more/my money.

Unit 3 – Talking about teenage fashion

By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to understand key points from more advanced texts on teenage living.
Most students will be able to understand in greater detail.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to write a paragraph about teenage lifestyles.

Key vocabulary: Ich bin ein Emo/Goth/Punk/Skater/Individualist = I am an…..individualsit; wir sind gern zusammen und sind sehr gut befreundet = we like to be together and we are good friends; wir verstehen uns gut = we get on well;…ziehen uns schwarz an = we dress in black; wir haben die gleichen Interessen = we have the same interests; er/sie hat seit einem Monat Tätowierungen und Piercings = He/she has got tatoos and piercings for one month; er/sie ghört zu keiner Gruppe = er/sie doesn’t belong to a group.
