This will help your child to revise for the end of unit test in listening and writing on school subjects, timetables and opinions.
Unit 1 – Physical description; hair and eyes and sizes; adjective agreements
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to ask someone and say what they look like and to describe others.
Most students will be able in addition to use qualifiers like “sehr, ziemlich, ein bisschen..” understand a more extensive text on physical description.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to understand and apply the grammar rule on adjective agreements in the accusative case accurately.
Key vocabulary: Wie siehst du/ sieht er/sie aus?= What do(es) you/ he/she look like? Ich habe/Er,sie hat…= I have/he,she has… lange, kurze, glatte…blonde/schwarze… Haare; =long/short/straight … blond/black hair….blaue/grüne ….Augen = blue/green eyes; Ich bin/er,sie ist mittelgroß/ klein/ schlank….= I am/he,she is medium tall/small/slim….
Unit 2 – Giving information and descriptions about members of your family; possessive adjectives
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to give names, ages and physical description of members of the family.
Most students will be able in addition to extend the vocabulary on physical description, qualifiers and use a few adjectives to describe characters e.g. langweilig.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to understand and apply the grammar rules on possessive adjectives.
Key vocabulary: M/dein(e) Vater, Mutter, Onkel, Tante, Großvater, Großmutter Cousin, Cousine heißt/ist/hat…… My father, mother, uncle, aunt, grandfather, grandmother, cousin is called/is/has……
Unit 3 – Ask and give information what various members of your family are like; questions without question words; understanding a longer letter.
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to understand a longer text on family and ask for and give character description of members of the family in complete sentences, using the correct verb forms.
Most students will be able in addition to extend their knowledge of vocabulary to give even more varied and detailed descriptions.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to use more connectives than “und, aber” and vary sentence structures further.
Key vocabulary: Wie ist dein(e) Vater/Mutter….? What is your father/mother…..like? Er,sie ist/sind sehr/ziemlich/gar nicht…= He,she is/they are very/quite/not at all….musikalisch, sportlich, faul, lustig nett, intelligent, kreativ, schüchtern, laut… musical, sporty, lazy, funny, kind/nice, intelligent, creative, shy, loud…..
