Gladiators / Accusative Plurals and Superlative Adjectives

Students know key features of the Roman amphitheatre and gladiatorial combat. Accusative plurals are introduced together with superlative adjectives.

By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will recall key architectural features of a Roman amphitheatre, describe elements of gladiatorial combat.

Most students will understand the cultural significance of gladiatorial combat, translate stories using accusative plurals and superlatives.

Some learners will have progressed further and will use the web site  and other resources to extend/cement their vocabulary; construct accusative plurals on their own, make informed comparisons between gladiatorial combat and modern forms of competitive entertainment.

How to help your child

Alert students to television programmes/ spectator sports which have a gladiatorial element.
