Roman Slavery / Perfect and Imperfect Cases

Students will learn about Roman slavery, freedmen and the mechanics of manumission. We will encounter the perfect and imperfect case.

Expectations

By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will: differentiate between different kinds of slaves, describe a manumission ceremony, recognise the difference between regular perfect and imperfect verbs.

Most students will: discuss key features of Roam slavery; read and understand Latin stories set in the past.

Some learners will have progressed further and will:  use the web site www.cambridgescp.com to cement their understanding of grammar and vocabulary; be able to form perfect and imperfect verbs on their own; discuss aspects of modern slavery.

How to help your child

Alert pupils to any news stories involving modern forms of slavery – eg child labour in the clothing industry.
