Unit 1 – Talking about body parts that hurt and illnesses

By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to say most parts of the body and what hurts/aches.
Most students will be able to ask and say for how long they have had the pain and how they hurt themselves.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to give advice e.g.  tienes que/debes tomar una aspirina.  

Key vocabulary: el cuerpo = the body. ¿Desde cuándo te duele…? Desde el martes pasado/ayer/esta mañana = since last Tuesday/yesterday/this mornig.  Me duele(n)/tengo dolor de = My…hurt(s)/I have a…ache; La cabeza/ boca/garganta/ espalda/pierna/pie/nariz/ mano/ rodilla = the head/mouth/throat/ back/leg/foot/ nose/ hand/knee; el estómago/el brazo = the stomach/arm; los ojos/dientos = the ears/teeth;  Tengo fiebre/frio/calor/gripe/tos/un resfriado/sueño/ una insolación = I have a fever/am cold/warm/the flu/a cough/a cold/am tired/ a sunstroke;  Estoy enfermo/cansado = I am ill/tired. Me he roto la pierna/cortado/torcido el brazo = I have broken my leg/cut myself/twisted my arm. Tuve un accidente jugando…/esquiando = I had an accident whilst playing…/skiing.

Unit 2 – Buying food and higher numbers

By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to say at least 5 words under each categories, quantities and prices.
Most students will be able to ask and know the most common food and drink vocabulary.

ome learners will have progressed further and will be able research more food and drink vocabulary and conduct a conversation buying food.

Key vocabulary: frutas/verduras/bebidas/otras alimentos = fruit/vegetables/ drinks/ other food;  un kilo de naranjas – diez plátanos; one kilo of oranges –  ten bananas; medio kilo de zanahorias – quinientos gramos de pimientos rojos = half a kilo of carrots – 500 grams of red peppers; una barra de pan = a loaf of bread; un carton de leche = a cartoon of milk; un paquete de azúcar/arroz = a packet od sugar/rice. Una boteilla de aceite = a bottle of oil; una caja de galletas = a box of chocolates.; una lata de atún = a tin of tuna; cien = 100 dos/tres cientos = 200/300; nueve euros (con) cincuenta = 9 Euros 50; catorce euros con ochenta y cinco céntimos = 14.85
