Unit 1 -Introduce yourself
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to give basic information about themselves.
Most students will be able to give information about other family members.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to use different tenses.
Key vocabulary: Me llamo= I am called. Tengo quince años. I am 15 years old. Mi cumpleaños es el catorce de septiembre. = My birthday is the 14th Spetmeber. Soy inglés pero mi mamá es de Francia y hablo francés con ella. = I am English but my mum is from France. I speak French with her. Nací en Paris, donde mis padres trabajaban y vivía en Francia por tres años. = I was born in Paris and lived in France for three year. Hace doce años que mi familia y yo vivimos en Cambridge. = We have been living for 12 years in Cambridge. Tengo un hermano mayor y una hermana pequeña que s llaman….y…..; = I have an older brother and a little sister who are called….; Soy hijo único. = I am only child; tenemos un gato que se llama Mimi; = we have a cat that is called Mimi; …estan divorciados = they are divorced.
Unit 2 – Saying what sort of person you are
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to say what kind of person they are using a range of vocabulary and qualifiers.
Most students will be able to describe other people’s personalities.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to describe what they were like in the past.

Unit 3 – Give your opinion on household chores; using present, past, future and conditional tenses
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to discuss some house hold chores using present and past tense.
Most students will be able to use the future tense and add opinions.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to use the conditional tense.
Key vocabulary: (Nunca) lavo los platos = I never wash the dishes; (no)tenemos lavaplatos = we (don’t) have a dishwasher. Todos los días arreglo mis cosas para ganar dinero = every day I tidy up in order to earn money. Antes hacía mi cama porque si no, mi madre estaba de mal humor = I used to make my bed, because otherwise my mother used to be bad tempered; siempre pongo y quito la mesa = I always lay and clear the table. Podría ayudar en el jardín/a mis padres/lavar el coche. = I could help in the garden/my parents/ wash the car; ni paso la aspiradora ni plancho = I neither vacuum nor iron; tampoco cocino = I don’t cook either. Cuando tenga hijos, ellos preparán el desayuno…. when I have children, they will prepare breakfast; nunca tengo ganas de hacer las tareas = I never want to do the chores.
Unit 4 – Talking about your routine; using reflexive and stem changing verbs
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to describe their daily routine in the present tense.
Most students will be able to say how their daily routine differed recently.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to talk about their daily routine using future and conditional tenses.
Key vocabulary: Me despierto/levanto temprano, a las siete = I wake/get up early, at 7.; entonces me lavo/me visto = then I get washed/dressed; todos los días =daily; durante la semana = during the week; al final del día = at the end of the day; primero= at first; luego = later; pero ayer estuve cansado/agatado/enfermo = but the day before yesterday I was tired/exhausted/ill; pero anteayer me levanté más tarde/di una vuelta en bici = but yesterday I got up late/ went on a bike tour; la semana que viene voy a desayunar fruta y me acostaré más temprano = next week I am going to have fruit for breakfast and will go earlier to bed. Me gustaría hacer yoga por la mañana antes de ir al colegio = I would to do yoga in the morning before going to school.
Unit 5 – Saying what you did last night
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to say what they did last night and add an opinion.
Most students will be able to say what somebody else did and what they will do the next day.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to describe their ideal evening.
Key vocabulary: Ayer después el colegio = Yesterday, after school; salí con mis amigos = I went out with my friends; fui al club de teatro = I did drama; canté en el coro = I sang in the choir; charlé con mis amigos por facebook = I have chatted with my friends on face book; fuimos al gimnasio = we went to the gym; primero saqué la basura y entonces hice mis deberes. = I first took the rubbish out and then I did my homework; a las siete y media cenamos, como siempre, juntos = at half past seven we had , like always, dinner together
Unit 6 – What sport or activity would you like to try and why?
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to say which sports they would try or not and why.
Most students will be able to give several reasons for their choice.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to say what skills/risks these sports involve.

Unit 7 – Discussing meals, food and drink
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to say what they eat and drink and expressing likes/dislike.
Most students will be able to say what other people eat and to use the past tense.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to say whether they eat healthily or not and use future and conditional tenses.
Key vocabulary: Usualmente en un día, desayuno con pan tostado y un té y un zumo de naranja.= Usually I have for breakfast toast and tea and an orange juice. Después, en la tarde, almuerzo con una fruta y un bocadillo. = For lunch I eat fruit and a sandwich. Cuando llego del colegio como un yogur o a veces un pastel. = When I come home from school I eat a yogurt or sometimes cake. En la noche cenamos carne, pollo, o pavo, con una ensalada y arroz. = In the evening, we have dinner with meat like chicken or turkey with salad and rice. A mí me gusta comer todos tipos de frutas, porque son deliciosos y frescos con excepción de plátanos, que me dan asco. = I like eating all sorts of fruit, because they are delicious and fresh, with the exception of bananas, which I find disgusting. No sé por qué, pero no los soporto, ni el sabor ni el olor. = I don’t know why but I can’t stand them, neither the taste nor the smell. Sin embargo, mi comida preferida son pasteles y galletas y tengo una pasión por chocolate. = However, my favourite food is cakes and biscuits and I love chocolate. No me gusta comer el carne = I don’t like meat. Soy vegetariano. = I am vegetarian.
Unit 8 – Opinions on drugs
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to say a few basic sentences what they think of taking drugs.
Most students will be able to expand and justify their opinion.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to say what they will do and what one should do using the conditional and future tense.
Key vocabulary: (No) tomo drogas = I (don’t) take drugs; tengo miedo de la dependencia/tomando drogas es tonto,peligrosos/no se saben todos los efectos/es una pérdida de dinero/no es necesario para divertirse = I am afraid to get addicted/taking drugs is stupid/dangerous/one doesn’t know all effects/it is a waste of money/it isn’t necessary to take drugs in order to have fun; de vez en cuando tomo drogas porque todo el mundo, mis amigos lo hace(n) = sometimes I take drugs because everyone/my friends do it; no quiero ser marginada = I don’t want to be an outsider; toman para olvidarse de todo y escarparse del estrés de la vida = they take them to forget everything and to escape the stress in life; piensan que no hay muchos riesgos. = they think that there isn’t a lot of danger; alcohol es un problema muy seria = alcohol is a very serious problem; beben demasiado/ estan borrachos =they drink too much/they are trunk / fumar es muy malo para la persona y para los que rodean = smoking is very bad for the person himself and for those around them; está demostrado que produce cáncer = it has been shown that it causes cancer; la gente debería dejarle = people should give it up.
