Unit 1 – Talking about your family
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to say a few basic sentences about their family.
Most students will be able to expand by adding physical descriptions.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to say when and where they were born, where some relatives live and what they do for a living.
Key vocabulary: el abuelo/bebé/hermanastro/hermano mayor/menor/hijo/marido/ nieto/padrastro/padre/primo/sobrino/tío = the grandfather/baby/older/younger brother/son/husband/grandson/stepfather/father/cousin/nephew/uncle. La madrastra/madre/mujer = stepmother/mother/wife; mi (s) parde(s) se llama(n) = my father/parents is(are) called; nació el…..de….= He/she was born on the….; tiene el pelo castaño – rizado = He,she has brown – curly hair; …los ojos azules = blue eyes; lleva gafas = he/she wears glasses; es alto/gordo/delgado/joven/viejo/guapo = he,she is tall/fat/slim/young/old/good looking
Unit 2 – Describing an ideal day
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to say a few basic sentences what they their ideal day would be like.
Most students will be able to expand by adding a wider range of expressions of opinion.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to compare this with a good day they had in the past.
Key vocabulary: Me levantaría bastante tarde = I would get up fairly late. Saldría con mis amigos. = I would go out with my friends; Fuimos de ecurción a la playa; = We would go for a trip to the beach; nadaríamos en el mar/daríamos un vuelta en caballo = we would swim in the sea/go horse riding; comeríamos mariscos frescos = we would eat fresh seafood; por la noche iría a una fiesta/bailaríamos toda la noche/divertiríamos bomba/irímos al teatro/a un concierto/al cine/al resataurante = in the evening I would go to a party/we would dance the whole night/we would have a great time/we would go to the thatre/to a concert/ to the restaurant.
Unit 3 – Describing marital status and how you get on with someone
By the end of this unit it is expected that all students will be able to say a few basic sentence show they get on with someone and give a reason.
Most students will be able to say something others e.g .marital status and to refer to the past using the imperfect tense.
Some learners will have progressed further and will be able to say what an ideal friend should be like.
Key vocabulary: Me parezco a…= I look like; me llevo bien con…= I get on well with; me llevo mal con… I get on badly with..; porque tenemos los mismos intereses = because we have the same interests; a nosotros nos encanta(n) la música/hacer deportes/las comdías = we love music/to do sports/comedies; porque es comprensivo/simpático = he,she is understanding/nice; me ayuda/me escucha = he,she helps me/listens to me; tenemos una( buena) relación problemática/feliz = we have a (good)/difficult/happy relationship; antes era = before I/he/she used to be; Me llevaba bien/mal con… = I got on well/badly with; se casó/se separó/ se divorció = he/she got married/ separated/ divorced; tenían una relación de amor y odio = they had a love-hate relationship; estar = to be; casado/divorciado/soltero/seperadao = married/divorced/single/separated; ahora = now; luego = then’ since 2 years = desde hace dos años.
